Dumb carseat question.
So, JAZ is in his big boy carseat since we moved back to NY (end of June)
I have the Eddie Bauer one and on the box it says
Rear Facing, 0lbs-35lbs front facing 22lbs-35lbs (with 5point staps).
So, my question is can I flip him around when he hits 22lbs (was 20lbs last week at checkup)?
He HATES being backwards, Im thinking he would love the car so much more if he could see everything.
Is it ok to do this?

Re: Dumb carseat question.
If he is 20 pounds AND at least 1 year old, then yes. If he is not a year old yet, then no.

Re: Dumb carseat question.
How old is he?
Technically facing the rear is the safest, so I would keep him that way as long as possible. We switched my DS at 15 months (he was way past the weight limit at that point)

Re: Dumb carseat question.
He is 25wks.
He just hates being backwards. He is a big boy for his age, so I thought I would check it out.

Re: Dumb carseat question.
25 weeks.... math... math.... so he is 7 almost 8 months old?
NO! He has to remain rear-facing. Get him some toys, a mirror, anything to keep him busy. At this age, he does not know any different, he has always been rear-facing. His neck muscles are not strong enough yet for FF.
I know its frustrating, but hang in there. The time goes too fast anyway!

It's too early for me to do my math but I'm assuming since you're still counting weeks he is under a year - in which case you can absolutely not change him forward. Do you have one of those mirrors that make music? That was a lifesaver for us! Otherwise we got some kiddie CDs and that worked too. It's likely just a phase that he will get out of soon enough!

Re: Dumb carseat question.
6 months old is too early to put him front facing. Get a mirror and some toys.

it's not about his weight, it's about his neck control and development (in case of accidents or if you stop short/are hit from behind). that's why the rules are 1 year AND 20 lbs.
sorry

Re: Dumb carseat question.
They have to be rear facing till atleast 1 year old, all due to neck control.
