dumb decorating question
Please help! Can you use black accents with -any- colors??
We are giving our living room a makeover. The walls are a tan/mocha color and the couches are olive or moss.
A while ago I bought this awesome curtain rod from PB on mega clearance. It's black iron. I bought a lamp yesterday that is sort of a distressed black. And I have two black iron sconces that I would like to hang.
BUT my other artwork has dark brown wood frames....and two other frames are sort of a brownish/grayish metal...
Do I have to stick with black or can I mix and match? Why am I so confused?

Re: dumb decorating question
i dont like to be too matchy...so i stick with making sure things blend. if you are afraid of having too many different colors/styles, make sure there is enough of each balanced throughout the room.
JMO! good luck! i LOVE decorating!

Re: dumb decorating question
I have iron, distressed black lamps, wood and metal frames in my bedroom and I think it looks nice. It's all about balance and presentation IMO
