Dumb Diaper Question

Excuse my stupidity, but all of the diapers I've had til now have been gifts.

What are the differences in diapers? Like Pampers, what is the difference between Swaddlers, BabyDry and Cruisers?

And with Huggies and Luvs, what are the differences with them??

I know a lot of it is what works for DC, but I am trying to narrow it down a little.

And how do you know how many to buy? He was in newborns for about a month and then size 1's for about a month, size wise size 1's still fit him, but the absorbancy went out the window so I have him in size 2 BabyDry right now.....

You aren't stupid- I think its all so confusing. Size 1 doesn't last too long- we in size 2 longer. I think they are in size 3 the longest. The swaddlers are up to size 2 and then they call them cruisers- I guess since they start moving around in that size. Baby Dry goes up in all sizes. I hated them- DD leaked constantly. The only ones she doesn't leak out of are the Cruisers which are the most expensive.

But I do love Huggies Nighttime- they work the best for overnight IMO. I got a great deal on Crusier's at Target or I would have tried the Huggies size 3. I will the next box.

I think its just trial and error. I have a bunch of Baby Dry that I won't use do the leaking but will keep around if I ever run out.
