dumb fertilization question
Can someone explain this to me. Okay so when you ovulate, it can take up to 10 days for the sperm to fertilize the egg? But now i thought i read in TCOYF that the sperm can only live up to 5 days in your fertile CM. So how can it take up to 10 days?
I probably have this all wrong, so can someone give me the short version?
Thanks girls!

Re: dumb fertilization question
The egg only survives 12-24 hours so fertilization would happen within 12-24 hours of ovulation. You may be thinking of implantation, which is anywhere from 6-12 days after fertilization - when it implants into your uterine lining.

Re: dumb fertilization question
The egg survives 12-24 hours, however, the sperm can live up to 5 days in good CM. So you BD a couple of days before you ovulate, maybe even the same day, and the day after just in case, and you try to have the sperm that is inside you fertilize the egg when it is released.
