Dumb Q: selling your car just paid off (have lien release)
I just paid off my car and got my lien release. I need to sell this car. I don't have the title (don't know where it is).
So, I need to go to the DMV to ask for a new copy of my title.
The title was in my previously married name.
What do I need to bring to the DMV? Do I need to change my name on the title too?
TIA

I had the same issue last year. I went to DMV and got another copy of the title. It takes about a week or so and you have to pay (i forget how much but nothing crazy). I did not change my name on the title. They can't do it right away, meaning you would need to order the copy of the original title and once it comes in the mail, you would have to go back to DMV to change the name. It's not necessary so I didn't bother.

it takes about a month to get the title after the car is paid off.

Did you ask for it or did the DMV mailed it to you automatically?
