Dumb question: after delivery
Can you shower? I'm sure I will be very stinky and icky and I'd like to shower before any visitors come. Is this possible?

I did - I had a v-birth and my dd was born at 5am - I was in the shower at 11am and it was so nice! I felt 1000% better after that.

i think it depends on how you deliver.
i delivered vaginally and basically walked out of the delivery suite, after which they pretty much just let me do whatever i wanted. i showered later that day - immediately after i was exhausted and sore.

I delivered at 1:25pm and showered the next morning. Visiting hours started right after I go in the room so I had a room full of people. I would have done it sooner if I was alone.

Yes you have to wait until all your IVs and such are out. For me I had DS thursday AM and was able to shower Friday AM.
HOwever with a scheduled c/s I was able to shower before coming to the hospital so it wasnt an issue!

I had DD on a Wed and showered at home on Fri. I had a c-section and was hooked up to tubes until Thurs.
DH brought me some wet ones and gave me a sponge bath since I couldn't get out of bed.

You can clean yourself up a bit before visiting hours but I wasn't allowed to shower.
I delivered at 5:27pm (able to shower the next day) and 2:27am (able to shower that afternoon). I had an IV for antibiotics for my first delivery which may have been the reason why I had to wait to shower.
(2 v-births)

I had two vaginal births and took a shower a couple of hours after I was in the hospital room.

I do not think it was mentioned yet but make sure you pack some personal shower products in your hospital bag. The hospital should provide you but I'm sure they won't have cucumber melon shower gel or body spray! Toothbrush and toothpaste too. And shower shoes or flip flops. When you get closer to the end, somewhere you'll come across a what to pack list.

I had  at 9:30 and by 11, they said that I could shower... It was the best shower of my life! I never felt better

I had a vaginal birth and I was able to shower once the bag of IV was done - a few hours after delivering.
