Dumb sleeping question....
DS is 4 months old. We started a nighttime routine just before 3 months which has been working great. I give him a bath, put him in his pjs, feed him, then rock him for a bit, he falls asleep, I put him in his crib. He doesn't sleep through the night yet but he is down for a good 5 hours.
I've heard time and time again that rocking is bad - but why is it bad? I really enjoy that time with him.

IMO, at 4 months rocking is fine. And if you enjoy it, no reason to stop.
The fear is that your DS will get accustomed to it and only be able to fall asleep if he is being rocked.
Rocking at 1 yr old and 25-30lbs is not so much fun!!!
