Dumb Tub Question!

Ok, not a mom yet, but I hope this question isn't too dumb!

Where do you bathe baby? I registered for one of those plastic bathtubs that was highly recommended, but what do you do? Do you put that on your counter or something while she's small, and use a washcloth to bathe baby? Or do you put it in the bottom of the tub and use a little water? I don't think my kitchen sink is big enough for the tub.

Thanks for humoring me!

Re: Dumb Tub Question!

Most people have the one that fits in the sink. I have the HUGE Euro tub and have never had to buy a different tub. It worked great from his first bath and I still use it and he will be 2 next month.

Re: Dumb Tub Question!

I have a big counter top in my bathroom, so I would put the tub on the counter next to the sink. Then when she got to big I got one of the blow up tubs, works great!

Re: Dumb Tub Question!

When they were tiny, I put the tub on my kitchen counter so that when the bathing was done, I could drain it right into the sink.
When the kids got older (around 7 months), I put the tub into the bathtub.
At around 13 months, I just put a rubber mat on the bottom of the rugular tub, and just bathed them in the big tub.

Re: Dumb Tub Question!

At first I put the tub into the kitchen sink. It tink it really would be too high for me to have reached into it comfortably if it were on top of the counter. At arround 6 months I started putting the tub right into the big bathtub. Sometimes when I don't feel like leaning over the side of the bathtub, I'll just stick her right into the kitchen sink. That really is the easiest. I also bought one of those bathtub seats for her to sit in. I find with that, I need to put alot of water into the tub just for her to be in the water waist deep. We're probably going to stick with the kitchen sink for quite a while.

I used the blue tub in the sink until they were about 3 months old, then I used the blue baby tub in the bathtub until the could sit on really good on their own (about 8 months or so). Then I used the inflatable tub in the bathtub. My son used the inflatable tub until he was about 22 months.

Re: Dumb Tub Question!

We first tried the kitchen counter next to the sink (we have a split sink and there isn't enough room in either side). DD really hated the bath at first, so I tried doing it in the bathroom on the floor. She likes that so much better. I lay the towel out right next to the tub and her pjs next to that. It makes the transition so much easier.

Re: Dumb Tub Question!

We have the tub on the floor in the bathroom. Once in a while, DS agrees to take a regular bath at the same time that DD is in her little tub. By having her on the floor, either DW can watch both of them, or I'll help DS, and she'll take care of DD and we have a big party in the bathroom. Chat Icon

Re: Dumb Tub Question!

We put the tub in the the bathtub. We have the Fisher Price aquarium tub and it has a ittle hamic so he doesn't sit too deep in the water.

We used the bathtub in the kitchen sink in the beginning. Then moved it up to a bath seat in the tub. (It was a poor quality bathtub/seat & broke after a few uses). At that point I switched to holding them in the bathtub while I bathed them.

I did the same thing. I did bathe him twice in the kitchen and the last time I did I burned his little hand because I didn't move the coffee pot far enough. I felt horrible and his little fingers were red for a few days.

I put his tub right in the Kitchen sink....
But I think I have to switch to the tub very soon since he kicks and splashes and gets water everywhere!

We have a blue baby bath - I think by First Years and it has a green sling which is great. We put it on our bathroom counter.
