We did ours in NYC - Central Park and the Seaport. It was the beginning of May and they came out sooo nice

Old Westbury Gardens.
When I went to get mine done we were originally supposed to got to Planting Fields but Planting Fields now charges the same fee for bridal/engagemnt shoots. They raised it because one bride last spring paid for an engagement shoot (small fee) and then changed into her dress when she got there to avoid paying the hundreds of dollars they charge brides
I am glad we switched. You'll feel like a model. So many people will stop and point as the photographer takes your pics
ETA: Northport Town is nice as well. We have a dock, gazebo, small little town. It was actually in the movie "In and Out".

thanks for the suggestions everyone!
Either LI or NYC are fine.. we are looking for something by the water or in a park, so Central Park and Seaport are pretty good possibilities

just spoke to FH, he wants to stay away from NYC, since we both work in the city, he wants to go somewhere that is not as crowded.
Any good beach/water location on LI??
