Earlier bedtime - what went wrong?!

Our DD is turning 10wks old this weekend. Her regular bedtime is 10p and she'll usually sleep until 5a ...have a bottle, then back to sleep until 830/9a.

The past two weeks we noticed she was getting very fussy and whiney at around 730/8p. After trying everything to soothe her, we figured, hey...maybe she's tired! Duh! So, last night we waited for the signs and sure enough at around 830p she started yawning, rubbing her eyes, etc. So we went through our bedtime routine and she was sleeping by 915p. Well, she was awake at 230a, 530a, 715a...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

What did we do wrong?! Does this mean she's not ready for an earlier bedtime???? I feel so incompetent when it comes to all this. Chat Icon

I'd keep trying a couple nights in a row to see if she falls into a pattern. Good luck...they totally call the shots don't they!?! Chat Icon

They certainly do run the show!

I think you're right...I'll keep trying (to be consistent) and maybe gradually she'll start sleeping for longer stretches. Until she start teething! Chat Icon

Thanks!Chat Icon

This is what we did. My boys get tired around 7-8 pm, so they go down, we will then bring them upstairs in their crib and give them a bottle at 9-10 pm and they sleep through the night

They could be going through a growth spurt. This defiantly effects their sleeping.

I agree. If you're consistent she'll probably start sleeping longer.Chat Icon

Re: Earlier bedtime - what went wrong?!

i would stick to the 7-8 bedtime. it sets a better schedule. it's not abnormal at 10 weeks not to be sleeping thru the night. maybe in another month she'll cut out that 230 feeding!Chat Icon
