Early AF after IUI
So, I started spotting yesterday morning at 10DPO and got so excited that it could be implantation spotting. But then as the day went on I got heavy AF pains and the spotting increased. I tested this morning just to make sure it wasn't implantation and of course it was BFN coupled with heavy AF.
I'm def upset our first IUI didn't work, but I wasn't totally expecting it to either- I've heard it take a few tries for IUI's to work. But, I'm really concerned why AF arrived on 10 DPO? My LP was only 10 days???
I was on Gonal-F, anyone else have a similar experience? I'm also going to call the doc about this.

I'm so sorry Did they have you come in for a progesterone level check at all? I would definately ask about that for next cycle as well as ask about progesterone support.

And ITA about the progesterone!
My RE puts anyone doing injectables/IUI on progesterone suppositories - so I'd definitely speak to your RE about that at your follow-up appointment.
Good luck

My LP was always shorter after injectibles. My Dr. said 10 days is ok.

I'm sorry sweetie. I wasn't on progesterone either for my first IUI. Did your dr check your progesterone level while in your 2ww though?

Re: Early AF after IUI
No, they didn't have me come back in for blood tests during the 2WW. I'm still waiting to talk to a nurse but will def ask why they didn't check my progesterone.
Thanks everyone for your hugs!
It bites, and I think I have to skip a cycle bacause I'm going away next week and won't be in NY for ovulation if I start meds on CD3. Maybe I can start as soon as I get back.
At least I can have margaritas on the beach next week!!! One +

Re: Early AF after IUI
So sorry for the BFN. I was at RMA and had to push them to do a CD21 blood test and low and behold had low progesterone and now take it during the TWW. Don't be afraid to be assertive about getting the testing done!

Re: Early AF after IUI
Same happened to me doing IUI with Gonal-F. I never even made it long enough to test, which ****** me off.
I'm sorry you got AF. Get right back on it and go for round #2. Good luck with the next one and I hope that one does it for you.

Re: Early AF after IUI
Sorry to hear that IUI#1 didn't work out... Like others have been saying get your progesterone checked... They didn't check for IUI #2,3,4 & 5 and I should have been more assertive. Now I switched dr.'s in the practice and am starting my first IVF and the new dr. questioned me about my progesterone levels, saying they were borderline... Have a great vacation!! And good luck with IUI#2!!!!!

Re: Early AF after IUI
I did injectables for my IUIs but I got AF after 14/15 days after IUI. I didn't have to do progesterone. I would definitely tell your RE that the next round you want to do progesterone.

Re: Early AF after IUI
so finally spoke to nurse. They say they measure from when I got the ovidrel- which would be 13 days before AF. I think that's BS because when I was on clomid, i would get AF 14-15 days after ovulation, not the shot.
I told her I think I should have been on pregeserone or at least tested for it. She said she will mention it to my doctor to have that done on the next cycle. But now I have to wait since I'm going away. I'll just give them a call when I get back and maybe they can put me on provera in week 3 of my cycle and we can start fresh. I don't ovulate on my own so I'm def not waiting to have a period.
So, a little break but it will be nice. and maybe i can lose this extra weight the drugs have put on me!
