Early Pregnancy Question

I have been lurking for quite some time and now its my turn to ask questions.

I just got a BFP on Monday and had more bloodwork on Thursday. My Beta tripled and my progesterone dropped from 36 to 22. When I asked the nurse if this is a problem, she said fluctuation is normal and I should be happy with these numbers.

I have a friend who m/c twice becuase her prosterone was not high enough so now I am wondering if anyone here had fluctuation of progesterone and is this something I should be worried about?

Re: Early Pregnancy Question

My progesterone dropped from 41 to 31.4 and I wasn't happy about that. I'm now almost 8 weeks and have been on Progesterone Gel Caps since I had my artificial insemination on April 1.

If you did progesterone suppositories they won't hurt, they can only help. Maybe you can ask your doctor if you can do them just as a precautionary measure because you're concerned about the progesterone. It doesn't hurt to ask!

Re: Early Pregnancy Question

I don't think it is really a concern unless the progesterone level falls below 10.

That what they told me and then when mind was below 10 - they had me using suppositories for my entire 1st trimester. Chat Icon

Re: Early Pregnancy Question

I had low levels of progestrone early in pregnancy and here is what I was told...

In some cases low levels of progestrone are linked to m/c..but in other cases it could just be normal for that particular person.

At 6 weeks my levels were under 5! I went on progestrone suppositories until 12 weeks just in case. I am now 22 weeks. Aside from the low levels of progestrone I had normal HCG levels, no spotting, and normal growth.

Im sure should your progestrone levels continue to drop your doctor will put you on some sort of progestrone protocol.

Re: Early Pregnancy Question

I would ask for it to be re-tested again in a few days to make sure it holds steady.
