early retirement
for those of you who are looking to do this... hell, even those who are looking at "regular" retirement...
what are the things you looked into? what resources did you read/learn from?
i'm toying with the idea of making this topic my summer reading.
this plus looking for a new job.

Re: early retirement
AARP has some good info and tools. Log into SSA.Gov and create an account to see your estimated social security benefit for 62 / 65 / 67. The top 35 years of earnings will be used in calculating your monthly payment.
I have an employer sponsored 401k, so there are tools to plan for retirement as well. You have to figure out how much monthly income you will need to cover your expenses. DH has to cut down on his expenses now, he spends way too much money on eating out and socializing with his friends.
While I am excited to start planning my retirement and have a target date set, I'm scared to actually go thru with it.

Re: early retirement
I have no idea. I haven’t looked into anything. All I know is I will have my 20 years in with the county by age 56. I don’t know if it’s early but I can’t stand to be there any longer so I am out as soon as possible. I know won’t get as much for a pension as I would if I did 30 but there is no way I can bear working when I’m 60....
