Early signs you're having twins
Hi! I'm only 4 weeks right now, but I was wondering if any of you had any early signs that you were having twins before you saw your doc? I'm having O pains on both sides and my DH swears that it's twins. Just wondering if there could be any truth to it or if you all just found out at your appt. This is our 1st pregnancy and we didn't use any meds or anything so I don't think we have an especially increased odds of a multiple birth. TIA!

I dont think having pains on both signs is a sign of twins. I didnt have any signs or symptoms, just knew by my beta #'s

Re: Early signs you're having twins
I had 24 hour morning sickness. (though a singleton pregnancy can do that) I was in the hospital for dehydration & they did a sono. Very shocked!

I had really bad m/s too, but like IrishTracy said that can be from any sigleton pregnancy

Not necessarily - I never got sick once, and I had a pretty easy first tri. I knew my numbers too like Diane said, and so I had an idea when they were quadrupling every 48, not doubling. Even then it's not a true sign of twins.

Re: Early signs you're having twins
There was no indication early on that I was having twins in relation to symptoms-mine where like a singletons pregnancy--very tired. I did not find out I was having twins until 7 weeks. Enjoy the next 9 months!!!

No indication whatsoever... no sore boobs, no morning sickness, etc.
Just my beta numbers.
Then again, we knew going in we had an increase chance of twins due to IVF.

Re: Early signs you're having twins
No indication for us except for how quickly I got the lines on my preg. test. We found out when we saw 2 heartbeats @ 6 weeks.
I didn't have EXTREME symptoms either. I had bad nausea but I never actually got sick.

Re: Early signs you're having twins
My biggest idea (though i didn't know it at the times) was when i took the pregnancy test. I took it the day my period was due and you know how they tell you to pee on the stick and wait two minutes, well i was still peeing and the line was the darkest line i have ever seen. My doctor said with twins you have double the amount of hormones in your body and that is what happens, but most do not realize it at the time.
Also, my exhaustion was unbelievable. I could barely stay up past 7 but since these were my first i thought that was just normal with any pregnancy.
Other then that nothing out of the ordinary.

Re: Early signs you're having twins
I didn't know until 7 weeks and it was my 2nd sono, but when looking back I was sooooo out of breath from walking up the stairs to the point I had to sit down and three weeks prior I could run up the stairs and be fine.
I was also VERY tired!

Re: Early signs you're having twins
I was very, very tired. could not make it through the day w/o a map. I also felt like my heart was beating really fast.
Although I have never been pregnant before so who knows.

Same for my friend who had twins-no MS at all, 1st beta was about 300 which is on the high side.
