Early walker shoes?
After about a month of just taking steps, my now 10-month-old is now walking across rooms. I think it's time for shoes for when we go out. Do I get the early walker type shoe? Or a real walking shoe? I find this shoe thing so confusing. I saw a pair of flexible-soled shoes at BRU that were similar to the Stride Rite ones, but for half the price. Are SR's really better?

Re: Early walker shoes?
Go to Stride Rite only because they will explain the differences in shoes and measure her right. After the first time you can go elsewhere. I was confused too. Turns out they dont' need an old school 'walking' type shoe- but they do have shoes that don't look like a walking shoe per se- but have the right support. DD walked early too and they really were helpful

Re: Early walker shoes?
If he is walking consistantly get the regular sneaker. John walked at 9.5 months.. I went straight to supportive sneakers.

Re: Early walker shoes?
My son was walking at 9 months and we bought him pumas at foot locker...as long as the shoe is light, flexible, and has straps, it will be just right! We found a sweet deal in payless the other day and bought him a nice flexible pair there for only $6!

Thanks all. I'll probably will get her a pair of sneaks, but because she's a girl, I think she'll a lot of use out of Mary Jane style shoes—just not sure what kind of sole she needs. Guess I'll be taking a trip to Stride Rite this week.

Take a trip to Nordstrom. They have their sale right now and many of their shoes, including Stride Rite, are in the $20 range. This is much cheaper than you will find at the Stride Rite Store. They have a variety of soles as well. You can check out some of the options online.
