IMHO I would just go with the Melissa & Doug...it's a whole lot cheaper! DS has this one, and it works perfect on our livingroom table, as well as on his floor. I wouldn't spend the extra $ on it!
It is also KidKraft, but it sits on a table instead of being freestanding.

How is it height wise? My DS is VERY tall like over 40 inches I think and I want him to be able to use it for a while. Also, the reviews said the chalkboard doesn't work well and it easily comes apart - do you find that to be the case? THANKS SO MUCH in advance!

It has 3 heights and I believe we are still at the shortest (DD is 40 in.) so there's a lot of room for growth! As for the chalkboard - to be honest, I don't know how good/bad it is! DD never uses chalk - we give her dry erase markers to draw with on the whiteboard side (I *hate* chalk! ). As for coming apart, we've never had an issue with that at all! HTH!

I think it depends on what kind of look you want. I have mommy friend who don't like the look of big plastic toys Or baby items, so they go for items with more of a "furniture" look. I love the look of the kidkraft one. If it's going in your living room or a common area of your home, I would go for that. If it's for a playroom, I would save the extra money and go for the melissa& Doug.
