Easiest way to Atlantic City from Suffolk?

Mapquest says tunnels (midtown and lincoln)

Dad says outerbridge crossing (BUT he doesnt remember the rest of the way- he ONLY remembers to take the Verr. and outerbridge or something like that.)

I'm HORRIBLE with directions.

What do you think?

Re: Easiest way to Atlantic City from Suffolk?

Southern State to
Belt parkway to Verazanno Bridge
Staten Island Expressway to 440 South
Outerbridge Crossing
Follow signs for the Garden State Parkway South
Take Garden State Parkway South to Atlantic City Expressway (exit 38? 40? 42? I forget, you'll see signs) right into Atlantic City.

hey, sounds easy enough - thank you so much!
Guess I have to stay awake, 'cause FH can't read signs and drive at the same time. Chat Icon

Re: Easiest way to Atlantic City from Suffolk?

i can be even more specific

southern state to the belt to the veranzanno

Take the veranzanno to the SI Expressway

Take SI Expressway to Exit 5 (Outerbridge Crossing Rte 440)

Take 440 To Exit 1. now, this is a bit tricky. Exit 1 is BETWEEN Exits 3 and 2. Doesn't make sense but anyway.... an easy way to do this is to follow this signs for "Outerbridge Crossing/Perth Amboy)

Once you get over the Outerbridge, you'll start to see signs for the Garden State Parkway. You want Garden State South. The entrance is right after "Industrial Avenue" so watch out for that.

Once you get on Garden State South, you'll be on approx. Exit 127. Take this all the way down to Exit 38 (AC Expressway). Please note that there are several AC exits (Exit 38A, Exit 38B). You want Exit 38, no letters after it. It is the most direct route into AC.

When you are coming back on the Garden State, reverse these directions and be sure to get off of the GS North at Exit 127. This will take you back into Staten Island, the Veranzanno and the Belt. Please note that the exit ramp off the Graden State is a little tricky and the signs for Staten Island come up very very quickly and if you don't pay attention, you may miss it, so take that part slow.

Who's the gambler???

wow!!! Thanks Don. I'm printing your post. Just going for a few days 'cause it was a cheaper alternative to flying to Florida (even with the $59 fares.) Hey, maybe we'll gamble a little and manage to not lost it all.

Re: Easiest way to Atlantic City from Suffolk?

Just a warning from someone who travels to SI a lot. The Staten Island Expressway has had consistently had horrible traffic lately - worse than usual! You may want to factor in some extra time for that.

Yes, lately! I mean, the SIE is awful normally, but it has been even worse! I can usually take the expressway to my parents, but lately i always have to get off the first exit and take local streets.

It has been worse then usual, they are closing one lane on the Gothalos bridge causing gridlock throughout the islandChat Icon
