Re: East Meadow info
I grew up there. great town
Barnum Woods is the "preferred" area.
IMO, there are no "seedy" parts.

This is where I grew up and where my parents still live - right by the jail. IMO it's the safest place, because if someone breaks out, they probably won't stick around Seriously though, the one thing I never liked about that area was that it was so close to EMHS (my high school) because kids would go on lunch break and be trolling the neighborhood. We were also very close to the turnpike which is very noisy.

Re: East Meadow info
I work in the EM. Salisbury is beautiful, the area near Parkway is nice, and the area around Woodland MS is nice too, IMO. I don't know the Barnum Woods area but I hear it is nice as well.

Re: East Meadow info
We just moved to EM in June and love it - I like all of East Meadow. I guess the only thing is that you might want to stay in the EM HS district but then again the Westury HS is fine too. We almost bought a house by the jail and it was actually a really nice area.

Re: East Meadow info
I live in Salisbury right now- not too far from the jail, it is really nice here, my DH grew up here. It is actually very safe. and the school district is private = Clarke not east meadow high. Salisbury has their own school district- bowling green elementary and w t clarke for middle and high school. which is in the east meadow school district. drive around in salisbury- you will be very surprised of the homes there.

Re: East Meadow info
Bowling Green and Clarke are both part of the East Meadow School District, there is no such thing as the Salisbury school district. As much as they are the forgotten about schools in the district they are still part of it.

As much as they are the forgotten about schools in the district they are still part of it. Yes, Salisbury Residents who live in westbury are in the east meadow school district as I stated above but have their OWN district that they go to- you have to live in salisbury/birchwood sections to go to those schools- east meadow residents do NOT go to those districts they go to east meadow high and meadowbrook, and then westbury goes to westbury school district.
edited to say they are not forgotten about, it is just select, you dont hear about it as much ( except for their sports) b/c you have to live in the area to go there which is a smaller group.
new edit-- Im sorry, I was def misinformed then when I went to bowling green to find out where I can take my DD for nursery. They told me EM and Westbury ( excluding Salisbury) ) residents dont go there. I was asking what towns go to bowling green and clarke b/c we are close to both EMH and clarke and wanted to know why 1 was chosen over the other. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm an East Meadow resident and I live in a section where a letter of request can be sent allowing my children to attend Clarke instead of EM. We are zoned for Meadowbrook, Woodland MS and EMHS. This letter would have to be submitted before my children entered middle school and would be for both MS and HS. It also doesn't necessarily have to be honored by the district, but I have never heard of them rejecting the request.
So just wanted to let you know that depending on where you live in East Meadow can determine where your children attend school.

I live in the Clearmeadow section and I think we are zoned fpr Clarke. All the kids on my block go to Clarke.
