East Northport and Commack Moms, please help.
The house we are buying under appraised, and we may be getting out of the deal. However, our current house is sold and we need to be out soon.
Tomorrow, we are seeing homes in East Northport and Commack. I know nothing about the areas. I know the schools are good, but I need more info.
Enlighten me, please!!!

I grew up in Commack. I loved living there, I would love to live there again. The schools are great, lots of opportunities for enrichment. What kind of information are you looking for?

My DH is from Commack and my MIL still lives there. What a great neighborhood! They live off the Sagtikos PKWY. Over by the Bonwit Inn. We also have friends in East Northport on Hammond Drive- very nice & family oriented neighborhood too (they have 2 kids and tons of kids on the block). Good Luck!

Re: East Northport and Commack Moms, please help.
grew up in EN and still live here i also teach in the district. i don't have much bad to say about it. i like the community, the libraries and schools are good. i like NPT village best but live close enough to visit all the time. my DH's family is in commack - i don't know as much about it but i'd say it's on par as far as schools (maybe even better?) and libraries etc. commack doesn't have a town-ish feeling to me. it's mostly jericho tpke....but the neighborhoods themselves are nice.

So funny! I just posted about this. We live in E. Northport and just received an offer on our house. We will be looking in Commack and Kings Park too this week!

east northport is great but no full-day kindergarten
adding: npt-enpt does not have full day. you can live in east northport but be in elwood/john glenn sd or commack sd. even a small part of east northport goes to hhh's

Re: East Northport and Commack Moms, please help.
I grew up in East Northport and moved back here in 2005. I have no complaints, well, except for the 1/2 day Kindergarten, but, my nephew goes to an Enrichment program in the AM and then is bused to school for PM session. My sister is very happy with the program. Like previous poster said, you can be in E. Northport but your child may attend John Glenn or Commack depending on where the borders are. I LOVE the village! There is convenient shopping as well. The people are very nice (I will admit, I do like my area where I grew up better than where I am now...I grew up more toward the village but on the E. Northport side of 25A) I grew up on a street where everyone knows everyone. My block now is not like that. I miss that a lot. Nothing horrible to complain about. I still love it! If I ever leave, it will be completley off Long Island (we'd go to FL).
