East Northport district parents
Did anyone send their child to the kindergarten enrichment program that was run by SCOPE? Our district is most likely going to be offering this next year and I was looking for feedback as I need to decide which enrichment program we'll be enrolling for soon.
TIA.

Re: East Northport district parents
my DD is not kindergarten age yet, but curious to know is this E. Northport with Northport/E. Northport Schools, or E. Northport with Elwood Schools? Hoping it's something Elwood offers!
Hope you find your answer though! :)

I'm not sure, whichever has or fairly recently had half day K. Our district has been kind of vague about the whole thing.

I did. Both kids.
I thought it was a good program...lots of crafts, projects, along with reading.
This last year I found that the work Maddie was doing in kindergarten enrichment was the work they previously gave Joseph in kindergarten The kindergarten work was a little differnt the following year.
Thanks. Less than half the families registered for next year have expressed interest in it, so I wasn't sure if they knew something I didn't or if it's just that it's new and they already had something else lined up.

Re: East Northport district parents
hey Cathy!
I found this description on SCOPE's website...Program Overview The program focuses on meeting the child’s total developmental needs. It is coordinated and articulated with the school district Kindergarten program. Social, emotional, motor, and cognitive growth are fostered through creative expression, arts and crafts, science, math, reading readiness, music, dance, large and small motor coordination, and much more
I spoke with Dr. D'Agostino today about the program today. She's seemed very confident about the program. Assured me that it was an educational program not child care like SCOPE's before and aftercare program.
Are you considering it?

Re: East Northport district parents
My son goes to the extended day kindergarten program @ Laurel Ave in the morning, has lunch there and then is bussed over to the elementry school for the PM kindergarten session. So far, I have been very pleased with the program and my son loves it. His teachers are wonderful and it is not just playtime, they are in a classroom setting and have a constructive schedule everyday. The one downfall (for us!) is that lunch time is at 10:15 or 10:20am i believe, and sometimes DS comes home with a lunch that has barely been touched & he is starving! But other than that, this program was a lifesaver for me, because I needed to work & was returning to school. Make sure to register early, we got waitlisted (and we registered on the 1st day) and almost did not get it, they called a week or 2 before school was scheduled to begin and told me that DS could enter in. Feel free to FM me if you would like more details!
