Easter Meal

I am hosting Easter and there is 21 people who will be there. I am making a lamb and a roast. My fil is bringing a large pan of lasagna. What sides should I make. I need to give some of the sides to others to make. How about apps? Dessert?

TIA

Re: Easter Meal

roasting veggies is easy. You could do that for a side (brussel sprouts, carrots, potatoes, etc.)

maybe a hasbrown casserole as a side? or potato salad

garden salad

desserts you could do something like cheesecake bars and brownies

I'd say if anyone offers to make something, accept the offer. If they ask what you need ask for a side dish or a dessert.

Re: Easter Meal

This is going to be my 5th year hosting. I have about 30-35 people each year!

Here's my basic plan (I try to switch things up or add in/leave out a few items each year). I also order a few things and have people bring a few things, as well as make a lot of things myself.

Everything I make can pretty much be made in advanced -- either assembled and then cooked day of, or even cooked/baked in advance and just reheated. Makes my life so much easier the day of, when I am chatting and hosting and serving and cleaning up!

Appetizers:

Cheese platter (ordered)
Antipasto platter (ordered)
My fil always brings spinach dip from a specialty food store near him, and I serve that in a bread bowl with crackers and bread cubes
Shrimp cocktail

DH's aunt, who used to host Easter before I took it over, will usually bring a few of her appetizers that are family traditions/favorites

I usually make a couple of hot hors d'ourves - in the past I've done things like baked clams, stuffed mushrooms, sweet and sour meatballs.

I also make a rose wine sangria to serve in a punch bowl along with the usual beer, wine, etc.

Main Course:

I make 2 turkey breasts, several marinated London broils, and a honey baked ham. I serve everything sliced on platters and I order a few dozen rolls so people can make sandwiches if they want. (I put out condiments for the sandwiches, too). Or they can just eat the meats with the side dishes.

For sides, I usually have some sort of salad, carrot soufflé (which is delicious), twice baked potatoes. I've also done things like quiches, corn casserole, potatoes au gratin, etc.

My mom also makes 2 lasagnas (one meat, one cheese), so we have that as another option with sauce.

Dessert:

Most people bring a dessert. My mom makes a bunny cake. My sil brings her famous cheesecake. I usually ask someone to bring a fruit platter. I usually order a chocolate chip cookie and brownie platter, and I usually make one dessert myself...I've done carrot cake, mini cupcakes with pastel icing... last year I made easter colored cake pops. We usually have a disgusting amount of desserts with coffee/tea. I also usually have out bowls of candy (chocolate, jelly beans, etc.) for people to snack on throughout the day to make it festive.

Hope this helps/gives you some ideas!
