Ebay question - shipping costs
I won an item and the person is offering parcel post delivery at a rate of $12.95 with delivery to be between 2 - 9 days.
Well I went to the USPS site and have found from her zip code to my zip code based on 1 lb: Priority Mail® 2 Day(s) $4.05 Parcel Post 2 Day(s) $3.15
USPS also offers unlimited weight priority mail delivery for about $9 or under.
Can sellers really do that? I sent her an email asking for other shipping options as I need the item sooner then 9 days.
Does she have to accept that I want other shipping items? Can I report her to ebay?
I have a feeling her response will be well I have to cover costs of packing, and driving to the post office. Well packing supplies for this item would probably entail a padded envelope that you can get from staples for under $3.

Re: Ebay question - shipping costs
honestly, I do not believe you have any recourse. Ebay will probably tell you that the shipping terms were in her auction the entire time and you chose to bid anyway.
You can definitely ask her for options, but don't be surprised if she says no. A lot of people inflate shipping costs as Ebay does not get a % of that - as they do on the sale itself.

I don't think you'll get anywhere. Sellers can charge whatever they want on "shipping and handling "

Re: Ebay question - shipping costs
No you can't report them unless shipping is way overpriced (like $50 more than usual).
There is nothing you can do in this case. You have to check shipping before you bid unfortunately.

Re: Ebay question - shipping costs
i have found that sellers add the cost of the auction and shipping supplies and any charges for staff to prepare the package just like a cataolg company would
she stated the shipping in her auction and unfortunately you agreed to the terms by bidding on it some sellers will offer express shipping so go ahead and ask her just be aware she will add the above charges to any express shipping as well.

Re: Ebay question - shipping costs
Next time check before you bid - What I do, is when I receive the item I check the envelope or package to see what it costed to ship.
I actually just had the same thing happen to me - I ordered something and when I looked at the envelope, it said $.63 to ship - He charged me $4.00. I emailed him and he said he had to buy the envelope. There was no way the envelope was $4.00.
He emailed me and said he would return $3.00 for shipping - I was good with that

Re: Ebay question - shipping costs
Thanks everyone for your responses. Scott that is exactly what I am going to do.
I've sent the person 3 emails and they have not responded. 1 last week asking a question and 2 yesterday about the shipping.
Nothing. Not even an acknowledgement.
I havent paid yet and I am a little skeptical on paying for this now, but if fear if I dont she'll report me as a NPB. or the longer I wait maybe the longer she'll take to mail it.
I've looked at their feedback and they have 48 and all are positive.
Sometimes I really hate ebay
I guess I just need to $uck this one up, learn my lesson, pay for the thing and cross my fingers it gets here on time

Re: Ebay question - shipping costs
This is why I tend to not bid on something if the seller is charging too much for S&H.
