Ebay Question re: Ebay fees

I am the biggest loser!Chat Icon

I'm trying to sell some books on ebay, and so far I've sold one for $8. Yet my ebay fees have totalled about $16 for the 10 days I've listed the items. So I'm negative $8 in my attempt to make some $$$. Chat Icon

I haven't done anything special - I have an insertion fee and a special duration fee for each item. I'm thinking maybe it's only worth selling big $$$ items on ebay? Chat Icon

And what the heck is a second chance offer? Does this mean my one and only buyer isn't paying on time?Chat Icon

TIA!

Re: Ebay Question re: Ebay fees

I just asked DH and he said the special duration fee is what got you--anything over a week costs $$$$ so going to 10 days costs more. Chat Icon That stinks!

Second chance offer means you can offer it to the second highest bidder if the winner doesn't pay up.

Re: Ebay Question re: Ebay fees

sell books on amazon. its so much easier, and i think people know amazon for books.

i sell all my textbooks back on amazon.

eta: and amazon isnt really "bidding" - you put what price you are selling for, and when people shop they see you are selling it.

Re: Ebay Question re: Ebay fees

you can also sell your books on Half.com. Its run through ebay, you use the same account but you don't bid. You set a price and that's what they pay. I have used that site for about 4 years or so now and I made lots of money.
