ebay related question

Just wondering what you would do...

I ordered a halloween costume off of ebay with a Buy It Now. The shipping cost was ridiculous ($18.95) but I bought the costume for $9.99 so all in all it was an OK deal.
It took 10 days for the costume to arrive. The seller just shipped it out 2 days ago.
I was thinking about giving her a neutral rating due to the slow shipping and expensive shipping although I know I agreed to that shipping rate by making the purchase.

Would you leave neutral or positive feedback?

Re: ebay related question

did you ask the seller why it took her so long to ship it you? Also, how much does the postage say that it actually cost?

if you get no response from her re: the slow shipping and the actual price to ship the item was way lower than what you paid, I would leave neutral feedback. unless the costume needed to be packed in a certain way, I see no reason why you should pay almost $20 shipping for basically, a piece of clothing. Chat Icon but I would have probably questioned that before I bought it.

I was going to contact her this past Thursday b/c that was one full week since I paid for the item. But she ended up sending me an email telling me the item was shipped that day (one week after the purchase date).
The costume came in one of the bag type envelopes from the postal service. It didnt say how much it cost to ship but it did say it was 8 oz. Chat Icon So as far as the shipping cost-I knew it was way too much but hoped that the shipping would have been faster.

Re: ebay related question

As stated in the auction, how long did the seller say they would take to ship it? If it says 2-3 days, I would complain, but if it says 7-10 days, it's within the auction terms (however she set it).
Regarding the inflated shipping price, some sellers do this for 2 reasons (which are sneaky IMO)
1. They pay less fees on the sale of the item, but make up the difference in the price of shipping
2. If you were to complain and/or return the item, you only get the price of the ITEM back, not the shipping, therefore she keeps the difference

I would leave neutral feedback being that the item is fine it's just the way she handled the auction that was not so great.

Hope this helps Chat Icon

I would leave positive feedback since you received the item as described but maybe give lower star ratings on the shipping speed.

You knew the shipping fees going in and maybe they observe Yom Kippur which caused a delay in getting the costume out. Plus you received it in plenty of time for Halloween.
