Ebay sellers - did you see the changes to ebay's fees & feedback

Fees have been lowered, a single Gallery pic is free, few other changes on fees

But also:

Feedback Changes - you can only leave positive feedback for buyers. I've been doing ebay for awhile and have yet to have to leave neg feedback for anyone since it's different issues that have come up were worked out and I'm not quick to want to do it. But...you can't leave negative feeback? They say the buyers will be held more accountable but still, this doesn't seem right.

Here's the whole text from the ebay email on feedback changes:

The eBay Feedback system was designed to provide a simple, honest, accurate record of member experiences. Focusing on customer service includes doing everything we can to grow customer confidence in our sellers.
Buyers will only be able to receive positive Feedback.
Positive repeat customer Feedback will count (up to 1 Feedback from the same buyer per week.)
Feedback more than 12-months old won't count towards your Feedback percentage.
When a buyer doesn't respond to the Unpaid Item (UPI) process the negative or neutral Feedback they have left for that transaction will be removed.
When a member is suspended, all their negative and neutral Feedback will be removed.
Buyers must wait 3 days before leaving negative or neutral Feedback for sellers with an established track record, to encourage communication.
All Feedback must be left within 60 days (compared to 90 days today) of listing end to encourage timely Feedback and discourage abuse.
Buyers will be held more accountable when sellers report an unpaid item or commit other policy violations.

That doesn't seem right.. In my experience as a buyer, the only time I've ever seen anything rectified (meaning after sending tons of emails and NO response) was after I gave negative feedback.

I'm quite happy with the revised fees. It will safe me some $$$ each month. As for the revised feedback, you can still leave neutral/negative feedback for buyers/sellers, but now there is more guidelines (ie time frame, unpaid status, etc). Its a spinoff of the feedback rtg system they installed this summer (which rates shipping time, etc). I find it extremely helpful.

sadly you weren't dealing with the best buyers. Most buyers try their best to rectify things before a neg. feedback is given .

I go that one last night.

While the listing fees went down a bit the final values went up quite a bit - 8.75% for the first $25 vs 5.25%. On a $25 sale that's 0.81.

Honestly, I don't understand the new feedback system. Chat Icon What is the benefit of not being able to leave a negative FB to a buyer?

I don't know...it says that you can only leave positive feedback for buyers now.

I have also been able to work things out with buyers without having to leave negative feedback but I just wonder what negative impact it might have as far as buyers who don't intend to follow through. I have on more than one occasion heard people talk about how they have several ebay accounts and even know a few people who have "scr*wed the seller" on ebay, which I find offensive since I sell a lot and hate to think of that mentality being widespread.

slightly incorrect, while FV went up slightly, it will be lowered according to the buyers feedback star rtgs. If you have over a 4.5 lets say, you get a discounted FV fee.

Re: Ebay sellers - did you see the changes to ebay's fees & feedback

I haven't read the whole thing yet.. but I had a problem with the positive and negative feedback thing... there have been times that the seller has screwed me somehow and I was afraid to leave negative feedback in fear of them doing the same even though I didn't deserve it.. don't know if this new method of theirs will be good or not, but I think that it was flawed and something needed to be changed.

Re: Ebay sellers - did you see the changes to ebay's fees & feedback

I'm a powerseller- and I am very concerned about the changes

I spent 1 hour on the phone with ebay today (powersellers get a certain phone # to call)

and as seller you can no longer leave NEGATIVE feedback for a buyer

if a buyer doesn't pay for an item or respond to the unpaid item notice- then they can't leave you any feedback (which is good- b/c I had an issue with someone doing this with then intention to hurt my business)

however- I really don't agree with ebay that this is going to get rid of all the bad buyers and sellers and raise sales for the good one- that is a huge leap

buyers that abuse the system- will be removed all with any negative or neutral feedback they have left

I am not happy - I might be saving alittle in fees- but to me I would rather be able to leave the feedback I want

I do alot of buy it now- best offer- and I count on feedback to make my decesions about accepting an offer

this is the main reason for the change- except - it's going to far in the favor of the buyer in my opinion

as some one who pays a ton on ebay fees each money - it would be nice to feel that ebay was on my side

their logic seems flawed on this one- I agree the feedback system needs to be revamped- I don't think this is the way to do it

also- buyers will have to wait 3 days to leave feedback- but to me that isn't always enough time to get the item - they could not even pay for 3 days

ebay needs alot of work
