Ebay sellers - I have a question
Someone purchased an item that I had up for buy it now. He paid, and then for some reason left me postive feedback before even getting the item( this all happened tonight before the item could be shipped tomorrow) A few hours later he emailed me saying he misread the auction and thought he was getting the item with lots of extras that are NOT included ( the listing was VERY clear) and now he wants his money back.
What can I do? Will ebay back me up that I did nothing wrong and he can't get his money back? I already have the item ready to be shipped tomorrow.

Re: Ebay sellers - I have a question
don't give the money back, once you bid you are entering into a contract.
Ebay will try to mediate but ultimately is your decision.

Re: Ebay sellers - I have a question
Since your auction was clear, the buyer is responsible for taking the item - all bids are binding. He has no recourse since he misread the description and already left feed back.
I think there is a way to cancel his bid and offer him a refund (less any fees you incurred) then make a 2nd chance offer to the next person but I am not sure how that works. This page may help...

Re: Ebay sellers - I have a question
Thanks. I think I would be more understanding if it was a mistake on an auction but this person used the buy it now feature and it had over a day still left to go. He has emailed me 5 times in the last hour

Re: Ebay sellers - I have a question
The buyer is responsible. However, my parents are big e-bay sellers and they often decide to pick their battles and not fight with people who ask things like this. It's entirely up to you, I think.

Re: Ebay sellers - I have a question
I would credit his account but charge him the listing fee (ie 70cents) because you may have lost other buyers since he used the buy it now feature. If he is unsatistified with that, then contact ebay. I too choose my battles carefully.

that's what i'd do too. i've sold some stuff on there, and it's definitely a "choose your battles" kind of thing.
i would have ebay investigate him though--is he new? scam artists can be high tech these days, and he could have funded your account, and then you refund him, and later find out that the account was stolen information or bogus or something like that!

I hadn't even thought of that. He has 12 feedback all positive

Re: Ebay sellers - I have a question
I would just give him a refund minus the listing fee. Be nice....customer service is a big part of ebay. I have had this happen before with some of my products....I have given refunds each time. Make sure you tell the person that you are refunding the money minus the ebay listing fee.
Then block him from bidding on any of your auctions.
Thats what I do
