Nope! I have purchased MANY items on eBay and would never ask that!

No. It seems like there's an obvious answer -- the seller has something they don't want any longer.

I saw your listings, was this for the car parts? My DH buys and sells a lot of car parts on ebay (Mustang too) and people do ask that a lot, I think it is to get a feel for why he isn't using it or took it off his car.

yea but shouldn't it be obvious why people sell anything? 1. make money and 2. don't need/want the item Chat Icon

Yeah, ITA, but I *think* with car parts people want to know that they work properly and haven't been overused or whatever.

I think anyway...

Re: ebay shoppers.... question

No, I never would. I did once have someone ask me why I was selling something for the price I was selling it for when it was less in the store. I never bothered replying because it was pretty obnoxious IMO. It happened to be a very hard to get item and I was trying to make money (which I did). Unless it's something stolen or illegal, I don't see why it's anyone's business.

the question was about a Gucci bag- not the car parts

the reason we are selling the car parts is more understandable- we got better ones and don't need the stock ones

does you husband want that H Pipe..Chat Icon

I once had a message from someone telling me that my item for sale was at the store (it was a pair of shoes that was purchased YEARS ago but they were brand new in the box with tags) and that I am charging too much for shipping Chat Icon

well guess what? they SOLD Chat Icon

Re: ebay shoppers.... question

I wouldn't take it personally.

I have looked at many designer bag auctions, and I also belong to several forums that assist ebay buyers in buying only from reputable sellers.

Because of so many fake bags on ebay, people are so nervous spending a few hundred dollars on a bag which may be fake.

One of the recommendations I read from the those forum sites is to find out why the seller is selling the bag, where it was purchased, copy of the receipt etc...

It may be a nosy question, but maybe you can politely reply with something like "I purchased it from XXXXXX, because I had a gift card, and later decided its not my style"... I guess what I'm saying is maybe offer a little information that will make the buyer a little more confident the bag is real. Unfortunately, saying the bag is 100% authentic isn't enough anymore

Re: ebay shoppers.... question

Some people are very cautious about the possibility of receiving stolen property, so they may want to check for a valid reason for the sale, or at least have proof that they tried to make sure it wasn't stolen. If that is the reason, it's not personal.
