Re: eco friendly shopping bags
they sell them in every grocery store. i've seen them in waldbaums, pathmark, stop & shop. stop & show had nice earth day 2008 ones yesterday for 99C. Pathmark has the nice heavy recycled plastic ones. It is like a heavy woven material and very sturdy. They were only 99C too.

Waldbaums. They are huge. They hold so much. Target and Pathmarks are small.

Re: eco friendly shopping bags
Macy's in Walt Whitmas was giving away really nice ones yesterday and today!
They asked for a donation for some Forest group, which my mom and I gave. I think they are supposed to be 3.95.
I've also seen them at Trader Joe's.

People must have really been talking these up lately. I was at Trader Joe's yesterday and saw a ton of people buying them.

Re: eco friendly shopping bags
They are everywhere.
We have them from Stop and Shop in DH's car and TRader Joe's in mine.
I really like Trader Joe's insulated bag. I use it to bring food to other people's houses as well.

Re: eco friendly shopping bags
I just saw in an ad today that if you use a reusable bag at Duane Reade that you get 5 bonus points on your DR card for each time you do it.
Also Pathmark has posted that for every plastic bag that you return, they'll give you back 2c. They have huge bins to put the bags in for recycling.
They've been taking back bags for a while but I think they are just advertising it now.

Re: eco friendly shopping bags
I have these that I got last year on Amazon. They are pretty big and sturdy. I have 5 of them and they hold almost a full cart of groceries. I always wish I had one more because I seem to end up with 2-3 plastic grocery bags each time. We've actually had people stop us in the grocery store though to ask where we got them. The bottoms are flat which is great for packing and putting them in the trunk of the car. They are pretty much the size of a paper grocery bag but a lot sturdier and they have handles.
