Ectopic pregnancy
I am asking this for a friend, and because I do not have experience with it (thank god), I figured I would ask here. What are the signs of an ectopic pregnancy? Would you get a positive on a pregnancy test?

Re: Ectopic pregnancy
I think you get a positive on a test. And I'm pretty sure one of the signs is unbearable pain.

Re: Ectopic pregnancy
You would get a positive on your pregnancy test, and unbearable pain on either side (near your fallopian tubes). There also may be a bit of spotting also.

Localized to one side too, I think. She should call her doctor IMMEDIATELY so if it is etopic it can be dealt with to your friend

Re: Ectopic pregnancy
I had an ectopic. I thought it was a miscarriage and went away without getting my follow up bloodwork. The pain was excrutiating-I felt pain from my pelvis into my reibcage. This is because the blood comes out of your pelvis and irritates teh other organs. first her DR should measure her hcg two days apart. If it is declining chances are its a m/c or ectopic. With ectopic the numbers are often erratic-mine were:
520 1,300 480 then back up in the thousands.
I ende up having emergency surgery(on my birthday no less) and lost my right tube
If it is ectopic she can get methotrexate with no surgery and keep her tube.

I am so sorry for what you went through.
She is 14 days late, and has never been. Before going on bc, she had a 23 day cycle...then after coming off, awhile ago, she had 28 day cycles. She had a baby a couple of omnths ago, and has had 28 day cycles ever since. Last month it ws 23 days, so she thought it wasst going back to a shorter cycle. Now she is on day 37, and starting to get nervous...sjould she call the dr/
