Edit: few new ideas at bottom: How does this sound for my DHs birthday gift?
For my DHs birthday, we'll be in Peter Island (British Virgin Islands), and I was thinking for his birthday present I'd pay for a full day of pampering (kind of a present for me too, it's a couples suite retreat).
This is an overview:
This one-day package provides the ultimate in pampering and full body rejuvenation for you and yours. Begin your day with a private Swiss shower for two followed by a refreshing Arawak Love Potion Bush tea. Next, enjoy an invigorating body scrub and a soak in your private suite tub, followed by your choice of a 75-minute Thermal Sand Bundle Massage or Sea Stone Massage. After enjoying a light spa lunch on your private suite patio, your afternoon commences with a Peter Island Custom Facial and a Peter Island Sea Spa Pedicure.
Question: Would your DH be able to handle a 6 hours of pampering? Seriously, I'm wondering if this will be too much for him.
The other option is an outdoor seaside 3 hour treatment consisting of massage with hand and foot "facial" with champange and refreshments.
What do you think?

I don't think my FH could do a whole six hours. Has he gotten those types of treatments before?

I like the outdoor seaside thing. It sounds more "manly"

He's had a 75 min. massage, and pedi treatment...he loved it and swore that he wants to go more often, but he has yet to go because he's so busy.

Hmmm. I personally don't like facials- the steaming part makes me claustrophobic. Maybe mention that to him?

Re: How does this sound for my DHs birthday gift?
I think its such a thoughtful gift (the 6 hour pampering) and of course you know your husband better than we do.. but I know that my DH would never have the patience for it, even though it sounds really nice "together" time and relaxing/romantic.. he'd rather be out sighteseeing , doing something active and the like
I would go with this one: an outdoor seaside 3 hour treatment consisting of massage with hand and foot "facial" with champange and refreshments

Re: How does this sound for my DHs birthday gift?
The only reason why I'm leaning towards the first one is because it's a couples thing, and we'd have a private couples suite....but the ocean side thing can also be done together (am I selfish or what...I want a massage too!)
Maybe the ocean thing would be better.
Do you think I should just ask him which one he'd like better? It's ruining the surprise, but at least I'd know which one to book (have to do this soon)

Re: How does this sound for my DHs birthday gift?
I swear mine has ADD, 6 hours would be a strech. But you know DH best, either way sounds like a beautiful treat.
Mine would rather have 6 hours of hang gliding or zorbing or something, but different strokes for different folks

My DH would love it but would kill me if I ever told anyone that he loved it!

Edit: Few new ideas at bottomRe: How does this sound for my DHs birthday gift?
We're going in January... I just found a few more ideas:
charter a sail boat for the day; which will take us to some great snorkleing spots, lunch etc.
Or charter a helicopter for some sightseeing;
Heligolf (helicopter take us golfing on another island; DH is a big golfer, but he's also big into sailing).
Ugghhhh so many options!

Re: How does this sound for my DHs birthday gift?
Honestly, I don't think I could stand 6 hours of pampering -- by the end I would feel poked and prodded
I think the 3 hour outdoor one sounds amazing...it sounds like a beautiful setting and you could always arrange a romantic candelight room service dinner for that evening.
What a fantastic surprise!!

Re: How does this sound for my DHs birthday gift?
you sold me on sailing!!! I love sailing and with snorkeling too, that sounds great. But if your DH loved his previous pampering session, then, I don't know, that's definitely a dilemma. sorry

Re: Edit: few new ideas at bottom: How does this sound for my DHs birthday gift?
Now I found another option;
Charter a yacht with private chef for a full day.

OK, I think for his birthday I'm going to ditch the full day pampering, and do something with either the sailing or yacht.
(I'm still going for a seaside massage at some point during the vacation, and we'll see if DH will join me).

How about the 3 hour pampering and the helicopter? Some relaxation, some excitement.

Ohhh...I never thought about combining them!
Choices, choices, choices!
Just spoke with my travel agent, and she's done the full day sailing charter and loved it.
UGHhhhhhhhh...I'm not complaining, this is a good dilemma.
