El. Ed teachers-holiday party ideas!

I want to make our holiday party extra special this year. In years past, I have kids bring in food, parents read books, they sing a song or two, but this year, I'm thinking some new things.

1-pizza party-we'll skip lunch and i'll order pizza (I'll collect 2$ per kid)
2-have 2-3 parents read stories
3-have the kids color in carrots, cut them out and we'll play pin the nose on frosty
4-make snowman soup-hot chocolate with marshmallows
5-play freeze dance or musical chairs with winter tunes

Re: El. Ed teachers-holiday party ideas!

I always let my room parents plan my parties. In the past, the room moms have always done stations with the kids. One would be a craft station, then a cupcake decorating station, a bingo or some sort of game station. and the last one is another game or coloring station. They did this with our Halloween party this year and it worked out great, hopefully they will do the same for our winter party. The less I have to do/plan the happier I am!!

sounds like you have it all planned! seriously, your ideas are great. when i taught kindergarten, we decorated gingerbread houses. I had the class parents bring in graham crackers, frosting and candies to decorate. I made sure to go down to the cafeteria and take the milk cartons (the half-pint ones they drink). I rinsed them out well and used those for the kids to paste the frosting, crackers and candy on. does that make sense?

the kids loved it. it was helpful to have parents man a few tables while they work on them.
