Re: El San Juan Hotel & Casino- Puerto Rico
DH and I went about 8 years ago. It was beautiful. I couldn't say a bad thing about it.
The rooms were beautiful, pool was nice, beach was clean. The restuarants were great ,but pricey.
Don't read too much. I always do that. Just go and enjoy. It really was a great trip.

Re: El San Juan Hotel & Casino- Puerto Rico
I went there for my bachlorette party 3 years ago.
They were in the process of renovating the main building. DH went last Nov for a Bachleor party.
Friends of ours stayed there in January & they loved it. They said it was the best location, they were able to do alot at night without having to leave the hotel. The renovations are modern. The pool area is very nice. They have beds that you can lay out in. Cool modern floating chairs.
A bit pricey for food & drinks, but thats to be expected when you don't do all-inclusive.
The little cafe makes GREAT pizza...we ate there for lunch 4 out of the 5 days we were there.

My IL's just went to El San Juan Towers ( the time share nextdoor) and raved about the hotel- they said they spent most of the time there because thats where all the good stuff was!

Re: El San Juan Hotel & Casino- Puerto Rico
DH and I just stayed there in August. We really liked it. It's a beautiful hotel. The room was spacious, the pool was awesome, the beach was clean. We met a lot of interesting people at the hotel bar, and the bartenders were so friendly and made the best mojitos! The restaurants are great but they are expensive and don't really offer much in the way of authentic Puero Rican cuisine which was a bit disappointing to us. But the hotel is on a main strip within walking distance to just about any fast food place you can imagine if you want to go that route, and we found a few authentic Puerto Rican restaurants to walk to as well. We made the mistake of doing the breakfast buffett at the hotel our first morning and I can't remember exactly but it I think it was like $25-$30/pp. We found a little restaurant just a few steps away that had breakast for like $4/pp and it was just as good. I wish I could remember the name, they had awesome mofungo there too! If you have any questions, feel free to FM me!

Re: El San Juan Hotel & Casino- Puerto Rico
I've stayed there numerous times. Once before the renovations (GREAT) and once during (terrible)
They were extremely inconsiderate during the renovations our power kept going out etc. I haven't been there since but I've heard its nice. The lobby is great there.

Re: El San Juan Hotel & Casino- Puerto Rico
Love the El San Juan! We stayed there at the end of June into July. Restaurants are expensive. We went across the street to alittle Authentic place, I forget the name but right by Church's. We also spent alot of time in Old San Juan for lunch and dinner. But overall beautiful beach, lobby, bars. Cheap Medalla Light pitchers at Brother Jimmy's BBQ upstaris with a great view!! I've also heard great things about the Ritz Carlton which is next to it.
