election resources/books

Does anyone have any election resources or books? My mother gave me a scholastic book on the election but it is to low for my oldest students. Any other suggestions?

Vote! by Eileen Christelow is a good nonfiction book for that age.

See How They Run - Susan Goodman is good too

So You Want to be President can link in as well, although I believe it only goes up to GWB right now and it's not really election related, but fun nonetheless.

I think Woodrow the White House Mouse might be too young for your levels, but if you need something lower it could work.

Fiction

I love love love Papa's Mark by Gwendolyn Battle-Lavert. It really instills the importance/privilege of voting.

LaRue for Mayor is cute and good for this level while not being overwhelming

Duck for President is young, but cute and the theme doesn't get missed/lost. I have done readers theatre with older kids and younger books.

Upstart has a "Vote for Books" theme decorations lin

My students are actually 18-21 year olds - just on a 3-5 grade level (life skills). I am looking for more teaching resources . I have a book that scholastic makes but it is for much younger grades. I am looking for something more mature.

Papa's mark might still be a good one for them.

Would they like something like Class President by Johanna Hurwitz? She lives on LI, maybe she would meet them?
