Re: Electric Blanket
I saw an ad for them (I think Target?) just the other day. I don't have one, I'd be too afraid of falling asleep with it on and starting a fire. I'm sure they're safe but the idea of a running current of electricity attached to fabric... dunno, just makes me nervous.

Re: Electric Blanket
I take those Herbal wraps and heat them in the microwave and go to bed with them .. that way I get warm but don't have to use an electrical blanket.

Re: Electric Blanket
Electric blankets are not to be used by women of child-bearing age, that's what my doctor told me years ago.

Re: Electric Blanket
I had one a while ago when I lived in a really cold apartment. I would turn it on about an hour before I went to bed and then turned it off when I got in bed. I also didn't like sleeping all night with it on. On the rare occasions that I would wake up cold in the middle of the night, I would turn it back on.

Re: Electric Blanket
I had one growing up, and I seemed to come out OK. I think that is a great solution. Good luck staying warm!!

We have one which we turn on about an hour before we get into bed, then once we get into bed, we turn it off.

When I was 16 one caught fire on my bed....luckily I was NOT in it... Oh...and it was my birthday... Wow, that's so scary!!
I had one growing up and I loved it. I never had any problems with it, but I sometimes wonder if that is why I am always cold now. Like maybe my body never learned to regulate itself.
I would actually love to have one now, but DH is always cold - and we have a down comforter, so as long as he's willing to climb into bed first and warm my side, I'm ok with it.
