Re: electrical work
It'll probably be an hourly job since there's not a ton of materials....probably a few hundred bucks ($400 - $800)?

Re: electrical work
my dh just bought the outlets at home depot and did it himself. not alot of $$ at all.
now if you're talking about replacing all the WIRING and upgrading the electric altogether, then THAT i would imagine is in the thousands $$$.

Re: electrical work
My DH did it himself - We normally hire people to do things but this was so easy and took no time at all - you just need to remembber to turn the electric off....

Re: electrical work
I think it depends if the wiring is already grounded.. if its not i dont think you would want to hook up an outlet that has the 3rd grounding prong.
We decided to get the majority of our house rewired; as we had most of the walls open anyway and its the original wiring 1952. It was pretty scary, really - the electrician tried to trip the breaker but couldn't do it - he had my husband feel the wire and it was BURNING hot - I guess thats how house fires start.

HeeHee...in our apartment I hung new ceiling lights and the wiring was HEDIOUS!!! It was grey fabric covered wires that were hotter than hell! But, since it's not my house I wasn't running any new wires...we are going to change the plugs in our house when we move in though, a lot weren't three prong.

Re: electrical work
Dh is an electrician- if it is just to change the actual outlets he charges $5-7 dollars each.
