elementary/primary teachers - tell me about your library
This year I am going to the primary school for Kindergarten. 1st grade will not have a library special , but they will still come in to check out books and their teachers can do research/lessons with them.
If you have anything similar, can you tell me what it's like? The old principal (she is moving to district admin) mentioned to me having the students check out books themselves , but I'm thinking I should somehow train the teachers to do this?
or do I go back to the non-automated sign out procedures?
Also, how many books can your students check out?

Re: elementary/primary teachers - tell me about your library
Many classes in my school don't have a library special...we have a schedule to follow regarding the day and time we bring our class in to check-out and return books- as for any research, we are to look at the free periods available to use the library
The times are only about 20 mins once a week for book check-out The research period is a sheet in the library to reserve an available period for teachers and classes for research

Re: elementary/primary teachers - tell me about your library
sorry, I mean the school library program.
I have to figure out how to meet the 1st grade needs without being there.
1. should I go back to an old sign out type check out (instead of the computer) and they can do it themselves without me there
2. give each teacher an account on our catalog system and teach them how to sign out books to the students
3. another way?
