Elizabeth Warren silenced on Senate floor
Thoughts?
This is disgusting. What is happening to our checks and balances. I know I shouldn't generalize and say "damn Republicans," but it's things like this that really make my blood boil.

Elizabeth Warren silenced on Senate floor
A senator from Oregon was allowed to read it after she was denied. I don't know if they're still going to keep her from speaking again but at least that's something. I definitely think they pissed off the wrong person since she will not be silenced for long.

Re: Elizabeth Warren silenced on Senate floor
I was just about to post this too!! Unreal!!!!!! The NERVE of them to not allow her to speak.
I guess trying to silence everyone from fellow Senators to the media is the new "norm" here in Trump's America. Unless you do what he says and wants you will be shut down. It's honestly despicable that the Senate is not allowing the Democrats to debate on the floor as they are allowed to do. This was SO wrong and of all people, I am glad it was Warren that they silenced because she's a tiger and she'll come right back at them. She isn't one to back down!!
I'm sickened over the state of affairs right now in this country.

Yeah, I just read that. Even more disgusting.
"She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted."- Mitch McConnell.

ELIZABETH WARREN FOR PRESIDENT!!
I love her!
Much like Bernie, I feel that she is too progressive and far left to appeal to the middle. I'd love to see her run for Pres., but worry that we would end up with 4 more years of Lord Dampnut.

Why was she stopped, but Merkley was allowed to read the same letter? McConnell is just a horrible person.

I love her, but the right hates her. There is too much animosity ingrained in the minds of too many people for her to be a viable candidate. I don't think she would win.

I'd like to know what she did as well. I mean reading a letter .. meh but did she break a rule?
Because the way the media plays it she was stopped because she violated Senate rules against impugning another senator.
So if she broke a rule, she broke a rule.
So did she? yes or no?
Regardless of why, I'd like to know.
PS: by meh, I don't mean the letter is meh, but that meh, reading the letter isn't a huge world ending crime, meh. Because heaven forbid in this ultra pc world someone misunderstands that meh. I see no crime reading the letter.

I think it's a tricky situation bc the rule is they can't impugne another senator but how can they debate him otherwise? Yes, she broke the rule but some are arguing that's it's being selectively enforced and the article I read cited several examples of others breaking the rule with no issue.
I watched an interview with Merkley on cnn and they asked why he was allowed and I still don't understand. He said something about not reading it entirely and summarizing or commenting about the end which isn't what she did. Idk, I couldn't follow.

And meanwhile... Ted Cruz called him a liar way back in 2015 with no response at all. Ted Cruz calls McConnell a liar

Seems like a fine rule for day to day workings of the Senate, but makes no sense for confirmation hearings of fellow Senators for important governmental roles. I mean, come on!

She supported it back in 2003, probably when her kids attended private school. However, views change, just like Trump was pro-choice until he decided to run for president on the republican ticket and needed the support of the pro-birth movement.

No, it wouldn't. People change their mind and positions on things all the time as they go through life. I don't see it as a bad thing, sometimes through your experiences in life and the new information you pick up along the way you adjust your views. That's just being human. I don't hold that against anyone.

Whoever said it WASN'T?? If you change your mind because now you know better, so be it. However, if you flat out lie and CONSTANTLY flip flop on issues regardless of who it is, that's a different ball of wax IMO.
