Elliptical at home vs the gym...
I love the elliptical whenever I go to the gym. I usually do anything between half hour to an hour. Depending.
DH bought me one for Mother's Day. I was so excited bc I've been talking about it for a while. Especially since I ended my gym membership bc the house we bought has a gym in the basement (minus elliptical). Just some of their old equipment and my good treadmill we moved.
Anyway, I went on and could hardly do 5 minutes. Totally exhausted. I kept lowering the intensity. I have been to a few different gyms and have had no issues with the elliptical. I just feel like the one at home is so much tougher. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Just me. LOL

Re: Elliptical at home vs the gym...
Do you think maybe you just have more energy/motivation in a group setting, like the gym?
I, too, bought an elliptical a few years ago (after having DS), and I used it for a few months, but now it's collecting dust. I just find it kind of tedious to do. But I am not a big exercise person, so I do better if I have to actually go to a class (like keeping an appointment) or stick to a set schedule (like couch to 5K). I find it really hard to muster the energy to do the elliptical at home.

Re: Elliptical at home vs the gym...
I had this exact same issue when we bought an elliptical. At the gym, I could do 45 mins no problem, but on my own machine, even a few minutes were tough! I forced myself to use it for a few months, but eventually stopped. It was just too hard!! I think it has to do with the quality of the machine. Gyms buy top of the line stuff... a few thousand apiece. We spent around $900, which to us is a lot of money, but it just wasn't the same. The ones at my gym were sooo much smoother. My DH was not too thrilled to see me stop using it after I had talked it up so much and invested all that money!

LOL! Yes... that's exactly me too. My MIL has one at her house. We go to Aruba with them every year and go to the gym in the morning together. She would do the treadmill and I did about 45 mins on the Elliptical. She couldn't believe I could go on so long. I think she knows hers is tough too and never been on one at the gym. So much smoother. Well, now my workout is about 5 - 10 mins (closer to 5) on the elliptical then go to the treadmill. Phew... I don't tell DH though.
