Re: Elliptical Machines
I'm jsut trying to get back in shape and have been using the elliptical at the gym for my cardio. To be honest, I feel I get a better work out on the treadmill...but there are days when I just can't face it - the elliptical seems easier to me.

Re: Elliptical Machines
We have an elliptical and it's great. I have bad knees so it's great for them...less pressure than a treadmill, for me anyway.
My only advise to you is to stay away from the "cheaper, no name" ones. We bought one from Sears and it was like $350 and after my husband and I used it for a few weeks, the stupid thing broke and we had to bring it back to Sears. We were so upset and mad. So we checked out Omni Fitness (there's a store on 347 in Stony brook) and we bought a really good one for about $1,200. Yeah, I know it's a lot of $$$, but it's almost as comparable as the ones in the gym. It's electric and has options for Multiple levels and it's smaller than the ones at the gym as they tend to be so big. I love my elliptcial. Now ask me when the last time i used it???? It's been buried in our garage since we moved (Nov.). We're working on cleaning up the room and are waiting for one of DH's friend's to stop by to help him carry in the house. Good Luck.
