Elliptical vs Treadmill
Which do you think gives you a better workout? Or is it good to switch it up?

As boring as the treadmill is, I find it reshapes my figure much better than the elliptical........

Re: Elliptical vs Treadmill
treadmill is too hard on my knees...I have a torn miniscus, I stick to the elliptical, I get a great workout on it and vary the resistance and incline to keep my workouts challenging.

I'm a runner so of course my answer is the treadmill. However, I have gone through injuries and have been left with no choice but to use the elliptical and have found you can do ok with it. The trick is to raise that resistance...you must raise it to work a sweat. Do a interval workout 2 minutes on level 10 and 1 minute on 15 and you WILL get a great workout. There are many other ways too...go double time fast for a minute and then 2 minutes at 12...repeat!
So you can really get results with either...one other thing is when I use the elliptical I will stay on it for about 20 minutes longer than my typical run...i dont burn the 100 calories a mile like I do on a run so i make it up with time too!
Good luck

Re: Elliptical vs Treadmill
I hate running/jogging on the treadmill- it hurts too much. Walking on it is just boring. The elliptical is much easier on my joints and I feel like I get a great work out. I like to push wiht my glutes- it give me a better workout.

Ditto. It takes so much more effort for me to get a good workout on the elliptical (even with the resistance turned up).

Re: Elliptical vs Treadmill
Odd man out here- ellipitical trainer.
I dont run, or care to and I feel I get SO much more out of the ellipitical. I work up more of a sweat. I also use the arms like Im skiing.
Must work, I lost some weight.
ETA: Also, I noticed that I cant last as long on ellipitical...in the begininng at least. If its difficult....has to be good, no?
Now Im up to 45min-hr.

Re: Elliptical vs Treadmill
Variety is the spice of life. I think if you do a little of both then you get the best of both worlds.

Re: Elliptical vs Treadmill
It depends on my mood. Lately, I have been a treadmill girl but once it bothers my knees, I go to the elliptical. I also find that I dropped more weight on the elliptical...
