ok so what's the deal with this thing? it kinda creeps me out! i can't imagine kids not being scared of it. any experience?

I pre-ordered one from TRU and gave it to my son for his 1st birthday last weekend. He actually LOVED it! He is of course completely and utterly obsessed with ELMO! Go figure!

My son likes Elmo, but he could have cared less when he saw it...thus our decision not to buy it.

My daughter HATES it. If I even touch the box she frantically shakes her head no and if you actually put him on she is in hysterics. If it wasn't a gift from SIL I woudl totally sell it. It is creep and I probably never would have bought it for her myself.

My son loves Elmo, but cried He is still too little. So I put it back in the box and will save it for him until he gets older

Same here. He cried at first and would run away from Elmo. Now he drags it around the house.
I'm actually amazed at the way that thing moves. It is so life-like, not like a toy. I guess I can see that as being creepy though!
