Elton John is a DAD!
From Newsday's website:
The piano man and husband David Furnish have become parents to a 7-pound, 15-ounce baby boy born on Christmas Day. The news was first reported Monday night by USMagazine.com and confirmed to The Associated Press by John's Los Angeles-based publicist.
Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John was born in California via a surrogate, whose identity is being protected by the new parents.
Zachary is 62-year-old John's first child with the 48-year-old Furnish. The couple married in 2005.
In a joint statement, the new parents told USMagazine.com that "Zachary is healthy and doing well" and they are "overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment."
ETA: I changed the title and made "DAD" in all caps so that people don't keep reading that he is dead!

im happy for them that they are happy, but 62 is old to have a newborn- its exhausting when your in your 20's & 30's- i couldnt imagine being almost 70 & doing nightime feedings.

I don't know. My dad had me when he was 51. Sometimes it's just the way it happens, I guess. If Elton lives to be 92, the child will be 30 when he passes on.

I don't know. My dad had me when he was 51. Sometimes it's just the way it happens, I guess. If Elton lives to be 92, the child will be 30 when he passes on.
I dont necessarily think its selfish. But I can hardly keep up with my kids - I cant imagine doing it at more than double my age

What an awful thing to say!!! 
Anyone can die at any time. Doesn't matter how old someone is. its not like he is 95!
I guess my kids will be doomed since DH is not in his 20s or 30s

oh is your DH 62?!?!?! my parents aren't even in their 60's and they have 3 grandchildren 62 is a senior citizen!
