Embarrassing question: Please help. I picked little scabs on breast.

When I had my daughter almost 2 years ago, I tried to nurse her but it didn't work out.
I noticed the other day I still had tiny scabs on my nipples where the milk had once come in so I picked them. I don't know why I would do something so stupid but I did. I figured how would I nurse this new baby coming anytime now if my milk ducts are clogged. Well, my chest has been bothering me ever since. They feel like someone is sitting on them. Do you think I need to call the dr because I might be getting an infection now? I feel like the biggest ***!

I have no clue what it could be but I def think you should call your doc just incase..

When did you have your DD? I remember you from LIW.. I didnt know we had kids at the same time.. mine was born in Jan 2 years ago.

I feel like a stupid jerk and I am so embarrassed to call the dr and tell them what I did. Its got to be the dumbest thing I have ever done.

I wouldnt be embarressed.. they have heard MUCH worse.. tell him it was itchy or something.

That's a good one. I guess I'll call and ask the nurse there. I am soooooooo embarrassed but I want to be sure I am not going to get an infection. My baby should be coming soon.

Use some warm compresses until you talk to them.

I called and talked to the dr there. She said that since I don't have oozing or fever, to put Neosporin on them.
I'm so embarrassed and I have an appt to go see the same dr on Thursday.
By her reaction, I could tell that these must have been scabs that formed during this pregnancy because when I said I figured they were there for the last two years, she was shocked.
I feel like shutting up now because I think I am sounding more and more stupid every time I open my mouth today.

oh sue, call the doctor. I thought I had clogged ducts, but turned out I needed surgery for a something else. I'll chat with you on FM or PM if you want. Weird how you still have had scabs?...
OK, ETS: just read your update. Sue, don't be embaressed! Man, you need to know what's going with your body and this would be just as important to me. I'm everything is fine.

The dr seemed shocked that I would have had little scabs for so long so I must have got them recently during this pregnancy I assume.
I just don't usually take that much notice to my boobs to know how long they were there. I don't know what possessed me to do something so dumb. They were tiny so it seemed harmless at the time. The dr said Neoporin should help. I go to the dr in 3 days anyway. But I am beyond embarrassed!

Dont be embarrassed, I am a picker, and I am sure I picked at things on my PG nipples too. OK now I am embarrassed with you

Sue, stop! you did nothing dumb!!!!! It was a scab, I proably would of picked it too normal reaction. Stop thinking it was dumb.

Sue..a plugged duct would be clear, like a blister just so you know for future reference. If you do get one please call me and I can walk you thru clearing it up..I had to prick it iwth a pin and pump like a mad women. OUCH!!! Are you okay?
let everything heal well and you should get yourself a copy of The Nursing Mother's Companion Guide. Read it and take it to the hospital with you. It was a great reference book and really helped me.

I've been putting Cortizone on them and so far they seem better, just itchy now. I am guessing that is because they are healing, at least I hope so.
I hope that I don't get an infection now because I did something so stupid because I really wanted to try to BF this baby when she is born. I hope I didn't mess that up too.
