Emma Marie-9/5/08; Failed induction-C-section birth-Long
So on Wednesday 9-3 i went to my weekly Dr's appt. I had a growth sono first and DD was measuring 5lbs 8 oz and fluids were starting to get low, but not concerning yet. I went to have my blood pressure checked and it was 150/100...I was also very swollen at this point and the Dr's immediately sent me over to L & D to be monitored. I was there several hours, when the decision was made to have me stay overnight and start a 24 hour urine collection to see if I had developed Pre-eclampsia. At the end of my 24 hour test, the protein in my urine was higher than usual but I didn't have pre-e. However the whole time I was in the hospital, my BP stayed high. My dr's decided that on Friday when i was officially 37 weeks I could be induced. I was pretty much on the verge of developing Toxemia and felt it was much safer to deliver than I stay pregnant for another week. Thursday night I got my Cervadil at 8pm and started to have contractions through the night. By the time the Cervadil came out, I had no progress, but they still started the Pitocin. I was having very intense contractions all day, no pain meds as well. When they got to the point where I wanted meds I began to have a panic attack. They became very intense very quickly and it completely overwhelmed me. I had to wait a bit to have my Dr come see me b/c she was delivering someone else and it was the longest period ever! At this point my nurse came in and checked me again...I still had NO dialation or efacement....so basically even the contractions didn't do anything. I was beyond myself
My dr finally came in and had my pitocin shut off. She discussed having me rest for the night and starting the Cervadil in the morning again...and having another day of induction. I really had to take a few moments and think about it, b/c I was beyond miserable...after talking about it with my DH, I decided to have a C-section. Needless to say within the hour my beautiful baby girl Emma was born weighing 5lbs 14 oz and 19 inches long. She was healthy and perfect. I don't regret anything and I would do the same in a heartbeat if I had to go back.
Recovery has been good. I'm sore and still slightly swollen, but its not as bad as what I've been told. So if there any ladies who are scared of C-sections, don't be...its truely not bad at all...I actually felt worse during my induction than I do recovering from the C-section. So without further ado...here is my beautiful baby girl...she has made me happier that I could ever imagine. I'm so in love

Congratulations! Sorry you had to go through all that only to end up with a c/s. But you're right. They are not that bad and in the end all that matters is getting the baby here. She is so cute! Congrats!
