Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield
The good? The bad?
Right now we have MDNY. They just raised their rates mid year (our renewal was in January) because they asked the state since they needed more money. My drug card was a joke. I am switching to Empire and was wondering if they were all they are cracked up to be. TIA

Re: Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield
I have empire BC/BS of New Jersey (my co is based there)
but it used to be better - the co pays went up alot this year, and I pay more out of my paycheck each month to have the lower co pays ($20 for a doc, $30 for the gyno)
alot of doctors take it, which is the good part!

Re: Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield
This is what I have with my company and they have a good plan - I pay nothing for me and if I add family they pay 75% - so for now I pay nothing for them.
My co-pays are $12 - I find almost all the doctors I want to see (there are a lot of very good doctors on this plan) take it. I have to have a breast MRI and they were very quick to give me the authorization when my doctor told me most companies will fight it.
I like it much better than others that I have had - like United healthcare and my DH has Oxford and wishes he had my plan but he gets his free from work so why pay?
Oh I have the PPO plan if that helps. A lot of how good the plans are depends on what contract your company works out - some companies have higher co-pays or higher deductables - or higher amounts they pay if you go out of network.
