End of August New Mommies
I know there are a bunch of us that have 2 week olds. So I figured maybe we should start a thread so we can discuss what's going on and how we feel.
Anyone else in?

Re: End of August New Mommies
Great!!
Anyway...I will start.
Quick re-intro....
My Jiavana was born 8/21.
Anyway...mostly my trouble with her is her sleeping patterns. She is such a pleasure during the day, but at night she becomes a devil!
There are nights that she sleeps in her bassinet for a good 2-3 hours, and then there are nights she is up SCREAMING her head off for 3-4 hours.
I know she has a lot of gas. I have tried the drops and they seem to work temporarily but it is still very fustrating when you don't know what they want.
Some nights while I'm trying to soothe her I wind up crying myself because I don't know what to do and I feel so hopeless.
I know they say it gets better but at times I feel like going crazy!!!!

Re: End of August New Mommies
I could have written that word for word! I was up until 3am just trying to get her to sleep. By the time she finally went down she was up again to eat. Needless to say I'm beat today!
Here's my into: Parker Jane was born on August 22nd at 6:45pm via C-section weighing 8pds 14oz. I was in labor for almost 19 hours and made it to 7cm, but just wouldn't dialated any further. The second they pulled her out she was screaming. Dh and I are just so happy. It's def a huge adjument period for us, but everyone keeps saying it gets easier. Her belly button stump fell off yesterday. I totally thought it would look like a regular belly button and I got a little freaked when I first saw it. They say it takes sometime before it's totally healed.

I'm in...what a great idea...
Molly was born 8/18 at 6lbs 1oz. She's a really good baby and I really can't complain. We are currently breastfeeding for the most part. It's very time consuming and sometimes it takes up to 2 hours to feed her. She's very lazy and seems to like to s@ck to pacify herself. I do supplement with formula at times since I do try to pump on top of the feedings and I don't always produce enough. She may be starting to get into a pattern of night and day. Yesterday she was up for a very large part of the day and just seemed to get up for feedings last night. Her stump hasn't fallen off yet but it doesn't look ready to so I'm okay with that.

Re: End of August New Mommies
I am so in!! Ryan Anthony was born on 8/22 at 6:49PM after 12 hours of induced labor (I arrived at 3cm so was well on my way but they moved things along for me). He is a great baby, my only problem is the painful breastfeeding. We've worked on his latch, different positions, etc. this kid just has a strong s uck - in the hospital the nurse said "I'm not surprised he's hurting you, I checked his reflexes and he is a very strong s ucker" I thought the 2 week mark would bring some releif, and it has gotten a LOT better in terms of us both learning what to do - but he still kills me EVERY time he eats - which is every 2-3 hours, slightly longer at night (like 3.5 hours). I am so glad to have this website to talk to other people in the same boat!!!!

Are you using anything to help relieve the pain? I have been using Lansinoh and it really helps to relieve the soreness.

Re: End of August New Mommies
Great thread looking forward to chatting with you ladies, here's my story:
Madeline was born 8/26 weighing 7lbs 11oz. She's a pretty easy going baby. I've been EBF and she's been thriving off of it so far. She feeds anywhere from every 1-4hrs. (the average is normally every 2hrs) My only problem lately is she has these moments where she latches on and off like 10-15x before she starts actively sucking. It can be very frustrating. I've also been using the Lanoish to help relieve sore nipples. It's usually just the intial latch that bothers me than after a few seconds it feels fine.

What type of formula do you use when you supplement? The past few nights I had to use both since I wasn't pumping enough. I had so many samples I was lost to which one to give her!!! Did your ped recommend a specific one or did you just try something based on motherly instinct?

Re: End of August New Mommies
Hi everyone! James was born on 8/30 at 9 pounds 7 ounces. We brought him home on Sunday, so it's only been a few nights. So far he is doing good, he eats, falls asleep and then wakes up to get his diaper changed or eat again. So far so good. We are formula feeding, so DH has been helping with the feedings. It's good because I had to have a csection, so I'm still not 100%, so I appreciate him helping me. Another thing is that I came home from the hospital with a cough, and I'm scared of giving it to him. I am going to the Dr. tonight, hopefully it's nothing. It's so exciting that our little ones are finally here!
