End of year gift for daycare teachers?

DH and I had this debate last night. I said we need to get gifts for the teachers at daycare (it's a large center) since it's the end of the school year. In reality, I'm not sure when exactly they will move up and be in a new classroom. They will be there through the summer and might have the same teachers.

We did gifts at Christmas and just did gifts for teacher's week. Would you do gifts again?

No I only gave gifts at Christmas.
This year since she is graduating Pre K and leaving the school in Sept I might give them a little something each.
But not until the end of Aug when she is leaving for good

We do not give end of year gifts. DS will be there all summer so its not end of year. We give gifts at Christmas and Teacher Appreciation Day.

It's my first year with daycare. My DS won't be there over the summer and I'm not sure if he'll have the same teachers when he comes back in September. I'm planning on doing a gift but not sure what and how much. We didn't do teacher appreciation week. He's had the same teachers all year.

There was a collection last year.. probably would do that if someone organizes it.

My daughter's nursery school collected $100 from each kid. I was NOT happy about it.

DS "graduates" this Friday but doesn't actually change teachers until September. I'll give a gift to his teachers in August. We love them and we have a DD who may possibly have these teachers in 2 years.

We do christmas only. When she graduates that teacher will get a gift.

IMO YES! Those teachers work so hard and get paid so little! $40 was collected from each child in the class for 2 teachers ,so $20 a teacher...
ETA: They will not be there during the summer nor will they have the same teachers next year.

In my opinion (having worked in childcare for 11 years) I never got end of the year gifts at daycare/preschool. Christmas was really the only time parents would give us anything (and it was always something small). I think you giving something for teachers appreciation is soooo incredibly thoughtful! And they'd definitely appreciate an end of the year gift. But I think it's honestly unnecessary and not really 'expected'. The only time I'd say to definitely do something is if the teacher is leaving or there was a graduation sort thing. But of course, if you really want to, go for it. I know childcare is seriously expensive, but most of that goes to building rent, utilities, food, etc. Childcare providers themselves are actually paid very little. So small gestures like these are very thoughtful and always appreciated.

DS's daycare is small, so we got them bagels last year at the end of the year.
