End of year teacher gifts? Affordable?
My kids go to daycare and I have 7 teachers to buy for. What can I do without looking cheap? I can't afford to spend a fortune but these teachers are wonderful and take such good care of all the kids. Thoughts??

Re: End of year teacher gifts? Affordable?
How much is your total limit? I feel your pain on having to buying so many. Use to drive me crazy each kid would basically have 2 teachers for most of the day and then have another one at the end of the day and it would switch out. I use to just get like a $25 gift card for the main and $10 gift cards for the floaters.
I have also done wine. I have learned getting cute things that probably say best teacher etc it’s just a waste I envision them just getting tossed so I try to put all money towards gift cards or something they can drink/ eat. In the long run though I don’t care if I look cheap I pay a shitload of money for daycare and I can’t afford to give lot.
You could also cater food in depending the budget. When my DD graduated from daycare/pre-k I catered in lunch for the school another parent wanted to go in with me so I split the cost.
This time around for my DS I am bringing breakfast in.

Mrs213, dont worry about looking cheap, you give what you can and want or dont want to give. Easier said I know, we worry too much about looking cheap on LI.
Its the teachers job to take good care of your kids that is why she earns her salary.
This reminds me of the grateful post. A gift or tip is optional and many people including teaches are and should be grateful for a simple card of gratitude. No teacher expects a gift.

Re: End of year teacher gifts? Affordable?
I know there is a lot of pressure to give gifts, but honestly (as a teacher) I don't get expensive gifts from most children. It is usually a small gift card ($5-$10 is average) or candy or a trinket gift. You could do a pretty bracelet (beaded will be cheaper) or even a food type of gift (like the stuff for smores with a cute label). A thank you card means the most and if you feel like you have to give something, add that to it.

I agree, I think a small GC to somewhere like Target (that I imagine everyone can use) and a heartfelt note is plenty.

I think I had eight teachers to buy for this year and it does get to be a lot. I am just thankful that after fifth grade all this gift card business goes away for middle school.

I did a gc to A.C. Moore in the past bc I figured its easy to spend a small amount there plus teachers can use it towards something for themselves or school if they choose. They also give a teacher discount.
You could do coffee or Panera gcs but I try to avoid that bc who knows what people do or don't eat.

For the holidays I give Target GCs to floaters and cash to the head teacher.
I don't really give end of the year gifts. DD is there year round. There is no end of the year.

This is perfect. I have also done Smores kits: a small gift bag with graham crackers, chocolate bars, and marshmallows. Inexpensive and the teachers love it.
