endocrinologist recommendations?

I am not yet TTC but I have PCOS and want to talk to an endocrinologist now. Plus a recent physical showed slightly abnormal thyroid results. Anyway I want a doctor that takes GHI but I'll take all recommendations and call myself to find out. TIAChat Icon

I went to LI-IVF in in Pt. Jefferson and saw Dr. Kenigsberg. They also have offices in Melville and Lake Success and are moving their main facility for retrievals and transfers to Melville.

you sound like me....

this week, i went to a new primary care doctor... who explained PCOS syndrome to me. i am waiting for results from extensive bloodwork and an ovarian sonogram. However, she made a good point that often PCOS is a side effect of an insulin disorder and in your case with an abnormal thyroid, that may be the case, as it may be in mine. She said that when the insulin over produces that increases the hormone levels which thus in turn effects the ovaries and effects or ceases ovulation and causes cysts. insulin medication or thyroid meds. should be tried first before fertility meds. like Clomid and the like...

GOOD LUCK! and my doctor will be referring me to an endo. once i get my results...i'll let you know.

thank you.
my doctors have not been as informative as I'd have hoped and I've been finding out more from other women than from them. as an added stress I have to look for a new primary doc and a new obgyn becuz my insurance just changed. so all recommendations are welcome so i can find someone who takes my insurance.

Are you in Nassau County? I LOVE my new primary care physician. She is so thorough and gave me so much information. Her name is Dr. Mary King with South Nassau Primary Care in Bellmore. My gyn. is also with the same group and her name is Dr. Laura Carinci. They are both great and have been working together on my case!
