Enfamil Gentlease

I'm going to try formula again with Connor and I saw this one. Connor is a very gassy baby, but not because of what he eats, but how he eats. He swallows A LOT of gas. This formula is for fussy/gassy babies. Do you think I should try it? Would it help? Or is it for babies that get gassy from formula? Chat Icon Do you know what I mean? Thanks!

Re: Enfamil Gentlease

I am also having a problem with formula. Christopher is spitting up a lot and gets a lot of gas pains. He has been on soy for 3 days now with not change. I might be calling the doctor again tomorrow.

James was farting up a storm when he was on the regular Enfamil. We switched to Gentlease and so far it has been great for his tummy. He is much less gassy!

Re: Enfamil Gentlease

Do you guys call your ped before switching or do you just switch on your own?

I called the ped before switching, and she recommended this formula.

He wasn't spitting up. Just really gassy and you could tell he was in pain bc he kept tightening his little body up and crying.

Re: Enfamil Gentlease

I tried Gentlease for 1 1/2 weeks and didn't see a difference. I did see a slight difference after 4 days with Nutramigen. I thought Gentlease would work with my DD because she is also very gassy and I too think it is because of the way she drinks. I think you should try it and see and give it at least a week. Hope it helps.Chat Icon

Re: Enfamil Gentlease

I am so torn on what to do. I hate to see my little guy in pain. I don't know why he is spitting up so much though. It's been 3 days I don't know if I should see a difference by now.

Re: Enfamil Gentlease

I tried Gentlease and it didn't help at all. In fact, she was worse on it! Chat Icon Well, she had previously been on breastmilk and then breastmilk plus 1-2 bottles a day of Alimentum.

The only one that she is really better on is Good Start. I don't know if it is the formula or just that she would have gotten better by the time we found the Good Start.

I've actually heard you have to give a new formula 2 weeks before you see a difference. We had to switch twice with Christopher and we were instructed to wait 2 weeks until we saw a difference both times. The Gentlease was a LIFESAVER for us. Christopher was always incredibly gassy and was always in pain because of it. We switched to Gentlease and it was like he was a completely different baby. Definitely discuss the switch with your ped. first and give the new formula some time. It won't be an instant miracle.

Re: Enfamil Gentlease

Is the Enfamil Gentlease more expensive? If so, how much more? Thanks!

First of all, it's only sold in powder form. Because it's so new, they haven't made it in RTF form yet. Depending on where you buy it, I've seen the cans range from $1-$5 more than regular Enfamil Lipil. Not too bad...

Re: Enfamil Gentlease

My DD uses Similac Advance with Iron, but my nephew was switched to the Enfamil Gentlease and he likes it and they continue to use it.... but as someone said, the drawback is it only comes in powder....I prefer RTF...but I think it is supposed to be very good for GAS because it breaks down the proteins in milk but it is still milk-based.

Re: Enfamil Gentlease

We have been using it since I stopped Bfing and it is wonderful! We buy it at WalMart, which is about $6-7 cheaper (for the big can) than anywhere else I have seen it.

Re: Enfamil Gentlease

Every kid is different. When my 2 year old was on formula Nutramigen was the only thing that worked. (we called it the princess formaula b/c it was so expensive) My 9 month old finally worked with Gentlease after 2 other tries. We use the Target generic equivelant of Genatlease now and found that to work equally well. We buy it on sale and it's less than $15 for a big can!
